Blade Battery

BYD has been a pioneer in the battery industry for over 30 years. Our latest battery, the revolutionary Blade Battery, has undergone a series of extreme tests under rigorous conditions, making it one of the safest batteries in the world.

Enhanced Safety

The raw material, lithium iron phosphate, has several beneficial characteristics: slow heat generation, low heat release, and no oxygen release. The unique flat rectangular shape also improves cooling efficiency and preheating performance.

Penetration Test

The penetration test is considered one of the most rigorous ways to test for thermal runaway in batteries. The goal is to simulate an internal short circuit in the battery. This is usually caused by sharp external metal objects penetrating the battery in a serious traffic accident. The BYD Blade Battery passed the penetration tests without emitting smoke or fire. The surface temperature reached only 30 to 60°C.

Optimized Strength

Arranged in a matrix in bundles, each cell serves as a structural beam to help support the force. The aluminum honeycomb structure and high-strength panels on the top and bottom greatly increase rigidity in the vertical direction. This revolutionary design gives the Blade Battery optimized strength.

BYD’s Blade Battery space utilization has been increased by more than 50% compared to traditional batteries, providing higher energy density and longer range.
